Crypto Crossroads: Navigating the Future of Crypto and Blockchain Policy

With volatility, shakeout, scandal, and the implosion of FTX rocking the crypto industry last year, the pressure is on for Congress to act. The midterm elections ushered in a divided 118th Congress, making bipartisanship essential for any legislation regulating crypto to pass. In the third in our series of events with Humanity Forward, we will examine the policy debates around cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology that Congress will have to grapple with. We are joined by Sens. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) who will provide their insight on how the crypto debate might play out in Congress.

Bank Secrecy Act Reform: Restoring the Fourth Amendment

Cato hosts panel to discuss Bank Secrecy Act Reform

Representative John Rose (R-TN) will provide introductory remarks to kick off the event.

Rep. Rose introduced the Bank Privacy Reform Act, a bill that would keep the Bank Secrecy Act’s record‐keeping requirements intact but prevent the government from accessing consumers’ transaction history without first obtaining a warrant, thus reaffirming the Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches and seizures.

Luncheon to follow.
